….. my alter ego (IF I was a greyhound ! ) who marks the news that I am now an Artist for the Retired Greyhound Trust…..
….. this watercolour is almost 3 feet tall !! Sprite is sporting a yellow jersey in recognition of the Tour de France coming to Sheffeld soon. Sprite is being auctioned, with all proceeds going 100% to Sheffeld RGT ….. bidding has started and closes on 1st August….. latest bid is ….. £250 !! 🙂 ……
……. more details and how to bid here : www.SheffieldRetiredGreyhounds.co.uk
……. or email your bid to me at neowatercolour@aol.com
……. by the way, my increased greyhound activity will not impinge on my cat work 🙂 (Homeless Cats in Montenegro)…..
Heartfelt thanks to everyone for your ongoing support 🙂
….. seems a good caption for this painting ….. dedicated to Eddie and his other Retired Greyhound friends who are waiting for their Forever Homes at Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust
….. an awesome subject to paint ! … its been a challenge. My favourite elements are the green Police Box, Taxi whooshing round the corner, statue of Queen Victoria, yellow Tour de France sunflowers, and … by far … Sprocket the Whippet ! …..
….. here’s the start of a new series of watercolours. Some of you may remember my paintings of “Usyaka” from Alexandras blog, which through a quirk of fate, went on to help raise funds for Homeless Cats & Kittens in Montenegro (home of Usyaka) where there are no welfare organisations or facilities for homeless cats. Alexandra is very much on her own, trying to feed, and help these cats when they are sick, and even managing to neuter some…..
…..it is very much an uphill struggle and her recent blog post highlighted the local culture where it is common for these cats to be seen as a nuisance, ill-treated and even poisoned…..
…..there is little hope on the horizon that things will change, the Authorities have other priorities. It is a huge amount for one person and I really hope and pray that someone can come forward with some practical help and support for Alexandra ….
….. from here in the UK it is frustrating to know how to help. People ask me why I even want to help – Montenegro is so far away and has no real links to the UK. I want to help Alexandra because her bravery and dedication against the hostility and huge obstacles she faces, every day, to help homeless cats & kittens, has been an inspiration to me, and a motivation through difficult times. All I can do, to help, is paint ! and so I plan to produce 100 cat, “Cattitudes” (and some dog !) watercolours to raise more funds. These original paintings will be available at local Farmers Markets, and on display on saturdays (see upcoming events)…..
….. meanwhile if anyone can help or support Alexandra, please look here : www.usyaka.wordpress.com
….. a Great Dane, in this case 🙂 …..another “daily sketch” from a photo in a magazine …..
….. Winsor & Newton watercolours on Archival Mountboard
….. un-related ! … 2 more interlude sketches – the $5 Aus. is a sketch I did on Boxing Day, from a $5 note given to me by my two friends who visited from Australia, way back in August ….
….. and the box of anti-biotics I’m currently taking for a chest infection 😦 … not the most elegant of subjects, but certainly “different” 🙂
…. both, Ink and Winsor & Newton Watercolours on Archival Mountboard off-cuts
….. resuming the practice of a small sketch each day…. here are 3 from the first week of this new year (my book, my tube of paint, and my box of white tea-bags) …..
…… Ink, and Winsor & Newton watercolours on Archival Mountboard off-cuts …..
….. I know some of you also follow Laurels blog ” Rockin’ the Purple” and may have noticed Laurel has been quiet now since last July ! I heard today that Laurel has had a very rough time and is currently unable to communicate by blog/emails ….
…. so, I am writing a snail-mail letter to Laurel and if anyone has a (short) message for me to include, please let me know 🙂 (email me at : Neowatercolour@aol.com) …..
….. otherwise, please have Laurel in your thoughts, best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery and return. Thanks everyone 🙂
….. is a very cute, mini pocket Moleskine diary in Deep Yellow, only 2.5 x 4 x 1 inches deep, cream acid-free pages, unlined – so good to do (very small) sketches in too 🙂 …..
….. sketched, actual size, on a small piece of Archival Mountboard (off-cut), Ink and Winsor & Newton artists watercolours …..
