Since a broken,boarded-up window had an artistic makeover by local artist “Phlegm”, this Launderette has generated much interest, click the link below to see the real McCoy :

…..seriously….. because this watercolour will be donated to Artists For the Red Cross, an Exhibition and Auction of works donated by selected local artists, to be held in Sheffield Winter Gardens 2-4 June……..aiming to raise £3,000 for the British Red Cross…………
…..and skinny…..because this is my second version of this quirky landmark (and the short timescale lent itself to a slimline piece !) ……mind you, it will hopefully include a pretty nifty Scooter……
….and Sheffield Wheel (just before it disappeared) in the distance. This is the upper part of the 8 February post (Oakhill Road). The complete painting is square.
To sustain creativity, regular treats are needed. One of the best is to acquire a new pencil. Whilst having a liquid treat, I admire my latest……………..
……a 0.7mm Sheaffer mechanical pencil, in Pink, purchased yesterday from one of the best shops in Sheffield – F.G.Thomas, 25 Surrey Street, a real Aladdins Cave of scribing instruments, materials and knowledge – a shop we should treasure ! (* drawn with 0.5mm Waterman. But my very best pencil is a basic wood Bruynzeel from Holland, very chewed, but draws brilliantly !)
A great exhibition today in Sheffield Botanical Gardens Pavilion, to mark the Global Centenary Year of International Women’s Day (8 March). Truly inspirational work by Sheffield women artists, many of whom battle with adversity.
Here is my art colleague Pat, displaying a huge range of paintings, cards and unique handmade bags…..and holding a splendid banana !
Many thanks to Annie for organizing the event – hopefully more events like this coming soon to add extra “zing” to weekends in the Glass-Houses…………….
Latest watercolour of Nether Edge Road, updated from 2009 version below, since Scuba Duba swam off into the sunset and Homemade expanded with a new Deli. Is that food supremo, Nigel Slater, wandering into view ? The Scuba Duba version features “Dog” a local rescue greyhound.
Welcome to the Official Homecoming of the Fiat 500 “Topolino” postcard, designed to celebrate the First Birthday of Postcard Cafe earlier this year. Reflecting the Industrial Pier of the Postcard Cafe mast-head, the pale blue sky, and deep blue sea, we all feel it is a real gem, and even, as we say locally “Bloody Good” !
“……they call you little mouse by name in Rome and Turin….” 500
More 500’s coming soon !
Snippets from a larger streetscene, a lengthy and ongoing work-in-progress.
Somewhere around Nether Edge/Sharrow Vale, Sheffield. A surprise for someone, so exact location under wraps.
A classic Fiat 500, possibly visiting Kelham Island.
Some may have previewed this already, but no apologies, you can never have too many 500’s !!
