……………..Scooter, I believe known as the “Hendobike”. Part of the “Weston Park 360°” painting
……yes, of course !!……Holly ! But……wait for it !!……..why are they in a VW Camper called Mabel, ?………
…………its just a snippet of the full masterpiece – “WestonPark 360° (Big Ron, Holly, and Mabel to The Rescue)”.
(as an aside, Holly was going to drive, but can Whippets drive ?? you bet they can ! ).
…………Cafe/Deli, Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. From a photograph (too busy a road to set up an easel ! ) hence the customers relaxing on the pavement were really there.

…….of a bronze Sculpture at Chatsworth House. (Front view not possible from public area)…….a little gem I came across in my Moleskine today, from awhile ago.
Well, I think its a gem anyway, there’s no accounting for taste 🙂
…….a slice of an emerging painting………this element features Sheffield Childrens Hospital (old & new), with mascot Theo the Bear, and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in the background. In future slices……….a possible splash or two of Hendersons …….. ?
……….will fit into a 2 inch square painting ?
In this instance, 4. Could have squeezed a couple more in, but Llamas might get a bit “spitty” if cramped !
Llamas seen at Mayfield Alpacas, Sheffield, awhile ago. www.mayfieldalpacas.com
Winsor & Newton Pro Watercolours on a 2″ square of Bockingford.
……who belongs to Jennifer Saunders. I heard about Olive on French & Saunders radio programme Jan. 2011. Being on the radio I didn’t of course see Olive, and was amazed when I saw a photo of Jennifer and Olive months later, to see that there was indeed a likeness (if I say so myself !)
On the radio, Dawn French jokingly “pretended” to be jealous that Olive had replaced Dawn in Jennifers affections, but there was a real sense that Dawn had a genuine feeling of her nose being put out of joint, by Olive. Very Funny ! But you have to agree, Whippets are sooo gorgeous 🙂
…………from a while ago. This whippet was soooooo small, and so cute in a tartan coat.
Featured at Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
…..Here’s Mabel, a vintage, 1973 VW Camper, to announce that I will be an Artist for the Red Cross again this year.
The painting I will donate is at an early stage, and will feature various Sheffield Icons. As last year, the Red Cross Auction will be held in the Sheffield Winter Gardens in June, when over £3,000 was raised for the Red Cross. More details to follow.
Mabel belongs to Sheffield company Generation Campers, and can be hired for holidays, parties, weddings and other special events – contact them here : http://www.generationcampers.co.uk
………..”the artists daughter”. This is my attempt to reproduce part of the painting by Cornelis de Vos, (seen at Chatsworth House), as part of a larger painting featuring all my “favourite” bits of Chatsworth………its going to be a big painting ! (and may never be finished ………….)

Happy Valentines Day.

……………..sketch of a newspaper advert. There is a motive behind these seemingly random daily sketches – “limbering up” for a bigger project.
Cadoozle Pencil, Winsor & Newton and St.Petersburg Pro Watercolours on Moleskine.
…..a new book dropped through my letterbox today, pre-ordered some months ago (and promptly forgotten about), which reminded me of watercolour sketches I did on postcards in my earlier days. Here’s one from 2007 – Costa Coffee in Waterstones, Orchard Square, Sheffield.
The book is superb -“The Art of Urban Sketching” by Gabriel Campanario – featuring over 500 full color illustrations from urban sketchers all over the world (see Urban Sketchers in Blogroll, below right).
…..a sketchbook study from the archive (August 2002 !). Just felt like something a bit different, today.
Canada Geese, Bakewell, on Winsor & Newton Cartridge paper. (P.S.the footpath runs alongside the river, with a drop of about 2 feet down into the water, if you’re not looking where you’re going).
……..Postcards !

……..Thomas !!!!…….here they are, taking a break for well-earned refreshments. Well, its thirsty work being famous !
This watercolour of Kelham Island Tavern will be Exhibited in Sheffield Winter Gardens (Millennium Gallery) in May 2012.
* celebrating 3,000 views of this blog, and a Special Thankyou to Postcard Cafe for the spookily telepathic supply of excellent reference photographs 🙂
….at the Farmers Market last sunday. Pouring with rain for the 2nd week running. Luckily Bella was wearing her snazzy pink coat. Another great character was Cracker, the tiny Italian Greyhound, who had not only a superb coat, but also sported an “undercoat” – courtesy of a Tesco carrier bag. Very clever.
thanks to everyone who braved the rain and wind, and for the great comments about my artwork.
This is just a very quick sketch, so I’m hoping Bella likes it.
(I’m not totally impressed myself, this brand of watercolour paper is like kitchen roll !)
Bella may feature in a more considered piece next year – Botanical Gardens with Pink Ice Cream Van – a long overdue update of the “red” version.
