…..my trusty Stanley “Lifeguard” Tape Measure, there was nothing to stop the ruler part shooting back into the casing, at a speed to slice through anything, eg.fingers, in its path !…..

…..I really thought this family “heirloom”, with its tough, solid, steel casing and chunky yellow switch, would last forever – I can recall playing with it as a kid, centuries ago, it resurfaced in my “art toolbox” the last few years, and even survived “plein air”. When it snapped, I was barely even touching it !  🙂

….. (a Big Thankyou to everyone, and a *Special Thankyou* to Caroline) …..

…..this money is now, yes, already…..helping homeless cats and kittens in Montenegro, home of Usyaka……here’s just one of those being helped, a Tiny Kitten called Beliy (“white one”)…..

….Launching U.S.A……..(Yes, its Usyaka ! !)……

“Usyaka (How to Sharpen Your Nose)”

……yes, this Appeal took off, today, here in Sheffield…..

……the “Usyaka Sheffield Appeal” is my attempt to raise funds to help homeless cats & kittens in Montenegro, home of Usyaka, where there are no official shelters or welfare facilities for cats……

……as a follower of Usyaka’s blog, earlier this year she inspired me to paint two watercolours – “Usyaka Sharpens Her Nose” and “Taking a Closer Look”. When Alexandra, Usyakas owner revealed that she helps to feed and care for homeless cats and kittens, it seemed that the Usyaka watercolours were meant to help. So, to start, postcards and bookmarks featuring “Usyaka Sharpens Her Nose” will be for sale here, with all funds raised – 100% – going to help feral cats & kittens in Montenegro…….

……today, on a cold (and fairly short) Farmers Market, sales totalled £ 34  /42 euros (£2 feeds 10 cats/day, £6 = Flea Drops, £8 = vet checkup, £20 = Innoculations – converted prices) ……

….”Keeping My Eyes on You”……

“Keeping My Eyes On You”

……is the watercolour which had a tremulous start, plein air (see “Big Innovation” 9th September post), but has, amazingly,come to fruition……

…….its not clear in this painting who – the Giraffe, or the Gecko, is keeping an eye on who !  – maybe on each other ? 🙂 …….but they both have Brilliant Eyelashes ?-)……anyway…….

…….the painting is now for sale to raise funds for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, here in Sheffield (one of only 4 dedicated cancer hospitals in England, and pioneering cancer research & treatment). This cause is close to my heart and also to Gilberts Antiques & Pine (where I have plein air painting sessions occasionally), so I am pleased to support this charity with my painting and to thank everyone at Gilberts for supporting me  🙂 ……..

…..Cafe #9……

……is the name of this cafe (which is, confusingly, actually No. 6 in the Cafes on the Hoof series). I’m particularly pleased with the “Pure” radio (and aerial), the stacks of CD’s/mini-discs, huge wall-speaker and the Bob Dylan portrait……(the huge picture just left of centre is a great photo of another planet). Pete & Paul of Cafe #9, do, I think make the best coffee …….

The Lesser-Spotted Artist……..

……..amazingly, I didn’t chicken out yesterday (despite some drizzle, early morning, which would have been a perfect excuse !)……..and set up my easel, and latest paintings, “on-street”, outside Gilberts Antiques & Pine on Sharrow Vale Road……..
